Well; for me that's 13 hours of non-stop flight to the USA if the AAO-OPS
meeting is going to be held @the east coast, and 16 hours of non-stop flight if
its going to be @the west coast. My last OPS meeting @San Fran it was 16 hours!
plus a connecting flight from Riyadh to Dubai. Furthermore it will take longer
if I have to have a flight connection somewhere in-between. This is the case
for me, and for some of my colleagues here in Saudi Arabia.
I made it last year to the UK for ICOP meeting where it had to take a 6 hours
non-stop flight from Riyadh to London.
I'd love to attend every year for the OPS meetings, and I wouldn't m iss it;
but calculating the cost, and flying time makes it quite discouraging, as my
employer will not pay or help for a yearly trip, but will help if I take one
every three years or so! :(
