Pat, you and I probably are about at the same place with all
of this.
Bye for now,

Christo,
I would guess that the limiting factor of an Optacon IIII is
financial. The people designing and implementing the device
I am sure have spent personal funds to see the project to
where it is but personal finances have their limits.
Manufacture and retail costs of a small number of devices
would be high and would be "up front" costs. Presumably
something would have to happen in that area before we would
see the new device.
And I wonder, at the end of the day, how many Optacons would
be sold? I have one working one and another marginally
working, which Richard Oehm could return to health. And I
am an old guy and truly wonder about the economics of
investing in another device when I am pretty well set right
now. But, I do love new accessibility technology so who
knows!
I hold the Optacon in heighest regard - I've been a user for
nearly forty-five years and know that my personal and
professional lives were significantly improved by the
Optacon. It's been said here before that younger users will
be hard to recruit, both due to the learning curve and the
availability of so many newer technologies.
I wish the project the very best and will of course continue
to be interested in the project.
Thanks for reading my thoughts.

Perhaps discussions should change direction and beginfocussing on
