All of these tell the same story, Craig. Whereas Nielsen is focusing these
days on measuring what the actual TV audience is, audience that in the past
they have ignored, and which you, Craig, used to "prove" your point that no
one was watching TV anymore, the above links instead study exactly HOW people
watch TV. That's their emphasis.

Correct, and they all agree with what Nielsen is saying. You just prefer to
spin them in a vain attempt to distort reality.

And the story they tell is very, very consistent:

1. Overall in 20 countries surveyed, 34 percent of people today watch TV
time-shifted.

Agreed. But the vast majority of this is still via DVR or in-band cable VOD.

2. In the US, 53% of people watch TV programs time-shifted, with trailing
millennials boosting that number to 60% (a harbinger).

See above. Ericsson was very clear that this is mostly DVRs.

3. In the US, overall, 56% of people watch movies on their TVs, time shifted.

Watching movies on a TV is obviously time shifted, as well as place shifted.
People are not going to the theater.

The other 44% is likely viewing the "live" linear streams from HBO, Showtime,
or the movie rich rerun channels like AMC and Turner Classic Movies.

The "time shifted" percentage reflects buying/renting DVDs, downloading movies
from iTunes, HBO Go and Now, or subscribing to Netflix. There is a clear trend
here to using the Internet as the primary means to watch movies at home.

What you are ignoring is that watching movies on the TV is a small percentage
of all TV viewing in most homes.

It is amazing that no matter how many studies you are shown with real stats
about viewing trends, you ALWAYS spin them to support your virtual reality.

Craig
