The input power levels for the big sticks are still huge compared to what a properly designed SFN would consume.

And big screen TVs would still be able to pull the EDTV signals off the air and display them with VERY GOOD quality.

But the point was that optimizing the next DTV service for mobile - if TV broadcasting survives at all - would significantly reduce the power consumed by broadcasters.
