Sorry, but retransmission consent ONLY covers live broadcasts. Watching a
program on demand, whether the next day or the next week is not retransmission.
The broadcast networks can do anything they want with the programs they own,
hence their dot.com sites. And they can sell their content to anyone, hence the
Hulu services...
BUT.
Retransmission consent is applicable to any Internet service that offers live
station streams like cable and DBS. It applies to Hulu Live. It applies to Sony
Play Station Vue, etc.
How long do you think FOTA broadcasts would continue if Congress
told broadcasters that they cannot collect retransmission consent

I repeat: when I watch TV FOTI, I do not use the local broadcaster, nor are
retrans consent fees involved. The congloms have seen that using the Internet
works in their favor, so they are doing this increasingly.
Yup. You are watching a program on a delayed basis, not the live broadcast.
It is a useful way to reach a larger audience than they reach with the live
broadcast.
Now the content congloms are enabling VMVPD bundles built around YOUR local
station feeds for the broadcast networks. But you will not be able to watch
these services...
Unless you pay the same fees as everyone else - cable, DBS, and the new VMVPDs.
The question you should be asking is what will be the future role of today's
OTA broadcaster. Instead, you are stuck with the business model of 40 years
ago.
The future of today's OTA broadcasters is just like the past. They will
continue to deliver (primarily) the live network feeds of the broadcast
networks.. And the vast majority of homes will watch these broadcasts via a
(V)MVPD service.
You claim you started watching streaming TV in 2006;
Where doe retrans consent apply, when people use a Roku?
To any stream that originates with an OTA broadcaster that is being resold by a
MVPD service. Equally true for an Amazon Fire TV or an Apple TV. It is the
service, not the hardware or the network used to retransmit that stream that
enables retrans consent.
