I agree.
Regardless of our views of other politics related to the issue, it's
uncalled-for to occupy a National Wildlife Refuge and endager the safety
and job security of the employees. Whatever our opinions on the federal
government as a whole, I think that most of us on this list have benefitted
from the national wildlife refuges and appreciate those who work un them
for how they help us.
It's truly a shame that good people and the nature they protect, itself
part of what makes America the country it is, had to be the targets of this
really mostly unrelated issue.

On the human level, do we have news from the Malheur National Wildlife
Refuge staff who have been so helpful to many birders for so many years?
Frankly it just seems silly to proclaim that "OBOL is not about
politics" when what amounts to an armed insurrection has taken over the
state's top birding site, and may be endangering the safety of the same
federal employees who have helped us so many times as birders.
At some point passive non-engagement becomes complicity. I suggest that
we've reached, and gone past that point with this incident.
