Walked a loop from the Royal Platform to the Barn Pond and back late this
afternoon. Highlights were:
Gadwall - 220, counted 190 in platform pond + another 30 along walk to the barn
pond.
Blue-winged Teal - 26 all males! 12 in one raft east of the platform + 6 more
further south, 6 in barn pond and 2 on platform pond. 6+ females also.
Canvasback - 3, one male two females in platform pond.
Black-necked Stilt - 8
American Avocet - 2, female sitting on eggs! Two years in a row, wonder if it's
the same pair?
Forster's Tern - 1 feeding south end of lake in channel along Hwy 126.
Yellow-breasted Chat - 1 calling north of Royal just west of the parking area.
