Barb Griffin reports that the male BULLOCK'S ORIOLE was at her feeders
today in North Bend, 4 inches of snow and all.
In Curry I was at the PO CBC, lucky I drove down yesterday as I would have
had a tough time this morning. The snow stopped right about Bandon but was
pretty good north of there, I heard 4 inches in Coos Bay and double that in
Reedsport. No snow that stuck in Port Orford and mostly a clear day.
I wasn't at countdown but heard it was under 120. No owls. I had no finches
or blackbirds at Floras Lake (very unusual). I did see 5 PALM WARBLERS with
bluebirds, Terry Wahl had 12 more. Terry also had 2 SNOW GEESE that had
been on the family ranch a while. We were able to refind the two
overwintering N. MOCKINGBIRDS, one in Langlois and one up nearby Floras
Creek.
Saw the Bandon Burrowing Owl on Tuesday too and saw photos of a likely wolf
track from the Panther Ridge trail above the Rogue River in Coos/Curry
taken by a USFWS biologist- wow!
