Is it memory hungry, as most of my machines have 2 gig or less memory. Brian bglists@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent via blueyonder. I've just been trying it a bit. It is quite an improvement over eSpeak, but it still sounds very British or something to me and so far, there are no voices for it but hopefully this will come. There are a few variants but the default is the best. For listening at high speed, it is still rough for this North American's ears but still much better than eSpeak. Will look forward to further development of this one.Roger On 6/1/2014 2:15 PM, Alex H. wrote:After using this for a while, I've gotten used to it. It's still a bit difficult to tell some consonants from each other in some cases at high rates, like P and K, but that's not such a big deal. The J or soft G sounds needs more definition and could be shorter. For instance, John sort of has a sliding J sound, which makes it sound French lol. Zhonand John sound the same in other words. Make J more sudden and shorter. BTW, if there's a better place to leave feedback, I'm all ears. Don't wanna keep going on about this on the addons list, as I'm sure I'll find something else to mention that could be cleaned up. Oh, like "could" sounding a lot like "pulled," for instance. Anyways, great work and have a good day/evening and all that. :) Alex On 6/1/14, Michael Curran <mick@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:Hi all, I've managed to spend a bit of time on NV Speech Player over the last few weeks. I have made some improvements to timing and pronunciation plus I have cleaned up the repository and build process, including providing a suitable readme.md. Again, the speechPlayer repository is at: https://bitbucket.org/nvaccess/speechplayer/ And a June 1 built snapshot of the NVDA add-on can be found at: https://bitbucket.org/nvaccess/speechplayer/downloads/nvSpeechPlayer_2014.6.1.nvda-addon Like before, we're still not up to the point where its appropriate to discuss other languages than english. this work over the last few weeks has really just been about getting it cleaned up and properly branded so that it can go out there as a prototype so that people can provide feedback. I'm quite sure this build will run on XP, though how well it will perform I'm not sure. I would like ti submit it for consideration to be listed on the add-ons site, obviously under development as this is just a prototype.
