As long as your changes are GPL V.2. you will not get in trouble with
the law, and I highly doubt that NVAccess would have any issue with you
fixing a tool they wrote (It's open source for this reason).

I have noticed that there is a new bug with the NV Speech Player in the
latest NVDA. The speech does not sound correct. I think that this issue
appears because of the new e speak NG that comes with NVDA.
