I had a Time Machine set up to work wireless with the Airport Extreme and I had
it corrupt several times and also experienced the long backup process. I then
switched to using a USB Time Machine backup and haven't had a problem in almost
two years. I work at my desk at least twice a week and that is when the backups
occur and that seems sufficient to me. The disk being almost full should not be
a problem as when everything works as it should the oldest info would be
overwritten.
