Have you tried an SMC reset? http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964

You can get a real Apple one at the Apple store for $129, or you can go 
elsewhere and get one much cheaper:

Apple have acknowledged in the past that your era MacBook did have battery 
issues:

The program under which they extended warranty and replaced those batteries has 
now closed, but you never know your luck if you call Apple tech support...
