This can also happen if you have hit Alt at some point without adding in a
second key function (eg Alt -V for the View menu). If Linda's suggestion
hasn't worked, might be worth trying to click Alt once to see if it clears
the problem.

Maybe you have WordPerfect key shortcuts turned on? I don't know if that
would do it, but it could be the culprit. Go to Tools>Options and see if
"navigation keys for wordperfect users" is checked...if so, uncheck that.

I double checked - rebooting did not help and my ctrl keys are not stuck?!
Any other suggestions out there? I can use the increase/decrease indent
keys, but that is not nearly as handy as the tab key Susan
