Ok. I tried both of these options with no results. Any other things I
could try.

Peter, try checking tools/options/view to make sure drawings is checked,
then go to the edit tab, insert/paste as and select 'in front of text'
as your default. If you are getting just the placeholders on the
graphic itself, try selecting the graphic and formatting the layout to
'in front of text'.

Unless you have some specific settings customized in your normal.dot,
such as default margin/font settings, there should be no harm to create
a new normal.dot. Rename your current one to NormalOrig.dot so you will
still have it in case there is a problem, then you can delete the new
one and rename this one back to normal.dot.

Also, there is a link here to a discussion on this same issue with a
good deal of information.

I tried help, couldn't find the solution there. I just assumed that
changing the normal.dot file would create a blank slate for me to work
with and might allow me to view graphics. Would it hurt to do this in
the meantime while I wait? =3D20

Then, I think we have to wait till someone with XP experience comes up
with the answer (I take it you've tried Help). I jumped from 2000 to
2003, so never took much notice of XP, I'm afraid. I, too, have an
occasional problem with graphics not displaying but if I switch views
and back I find that they can be persuaded to display again. Sorry I
can't help further.
