Pat,

My experience with this has been with Office XP - it's a known bug, so I
thought they would've fixed it with 2003.

Unfortunately, the only way I know to fix it is to either:

1. Get TweakUI and change the value with "ADD NEW DOCUMENTS" (you can get
TweakUI at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx)

2.
a. Go to RUN, then type regedit.exe.
b.You need to get to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\
CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer.
c. Next, delete NoRecentDocsHistory (usually on right side) if it is there.
d. Reopen Microsoft Word, and it *should* be gone.

HTH,
Scot

Subject: [mso] Recent Used File List "Grayed Out"

I am currently using MS Word 2003 and windows xp professional. I don't
know what "add-on" software that I might have added that has caused my
recent used file list to be "grayed-out". I have tried installing all of
the "add-on" programs, and did a detect and repair from the disk from word,
but it is still grayed out - any suggestions?

Thanks
Pat
