Funny, Dian....this same conversation is going on in the Eclectic Academy staff group cuz one of the instructors made her class pages in Word and is now trying to clean up the messy code Word made when she converted it to html. She used Dreamweaver, which is supposed to clean it up, and that made the problem WAY worse. It's my opinion, unfortunately, that if you have messy code, the ONLY way to really clean it up is to do it manually. That's why I don't bother to clean mine up until it causes a problem...I know how to do it....I just don't have the time. I really don't think there's ANY automatic way to do it that is reliable....not even Dreamweaver. Someone just wrote to me because they read my HTML series in TechTrax. They were creating a newsletter in Front Page, but the business center who accepts the newsletters won't accept her code page because of all the excess code that FP dumped in it. No Linda...this is not a razz, but a serious request from a real user!<g> Does anyone know of any utilities she might be able to use to clean up the code? She's just learning HTML and doesn't feel confident enough to go into the code and rip out the mess she's found. The only idea I could offer her was to download the free trial of Dreamweaver to revamp the code. But once the trial is over...if she doesn't buy DW, she'll be faced with the same problem and therefore won't be able to use the newsletter services management software because they won't allow FP code. If anyone has any suggestions I can pass along, I'd appreciate it!
