Yep....like I said, every time I've seen a sorting problem, it was either becuz the formats were different or there was an excess space somewhere....so if some of the entries are text and some are general or numbers, the sort won't work. That's why I told you to do what I said...that would quickly change them all to numbers. And no, you didn't do it right. I didn't tell you to paste the 1 down 20 columns....I told you to COPY the 1, then select the list of numbers that aren't sorting correctly...then select Paste Special from the Edit menu and choose "Multiply"....this would multiply all of your numbers by 1 and therefore change them all to the number format. But...I'm glad you got it figured out. Excel's sorting feature is actually very flawless...as long as the format of all the numbers is the same. I put a 1 in a new column, copied and pasted it down 20plus cells. Then I selected all those cells and did the paste special multiply and I saw a Sum=28 in the bar at the bottom of the excel window, other than that I saw no change.. Anyhow, I think I figured out what was happening this afternoon... I had started this spreadsheet like many others in the past, I'd get statrted, save the file, close the program, come back to it later, open spreadsheet by double clicking the file name in windows explorer. The sheet opens and I start adding more entries to it (in this case it is for inventory, physically adding entries for each item I find in the crib). ************************************************************* You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or MicrosoftOffice@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To send mail to the group, simply address it to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To Unsubscribe from this group, send an email to mso-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?Subject=unsubscribe Or, visit the group's homepage and use the dropdown menu.
