I tried doing it the define view and ticked message way... then click the icon for preview went to another folder came back to the original folder and to check to see if I've left preview on... I have to click on the folder...and preview is still open... sort of defeats the object .. in oe I can do this from any other folder.. I can close preview from any other folder and when I go to the folder I want preview will be closed... this can't happen with outlook... I guess I'm going round in circles... I still can't understand why it can't be done globally in outlook.. perhaps there might be a macro or something I could do this with?
