Being able to see codes nowadays is a boon when I swtiched I hated the fact
that I could not see the codes .. which is why I work with codes showing all
the time now ... the brill thing I loved about fp which I also started using
at the same time (98) was that you could see at least some of the underlying
workings .... when ever I helped anyone (i was doing courses at college) I
had to switch that on ... most of the users (young) did not know about wp
and had only seen word .. they could not work with it on... (being able to
see the paragraph markings. ( I think that was f12 in wp? it's been a long
time)

There is something in word that lets you see the wp changes I think as well?

Also .... one thing I regret .. .my brother wanted me to get used to using a
mouse ... my keyboard skills went way down ... I'd encourage them to use
keyboard shortcuts instead of the mouse (you probably won't have much
trouble with that lol) ... it will feel much more comfortable ... those two
things would have made life easier for me ...I feel you use your brain more
with wp you have to remember more .... though I used to use a little strip
with the codes on ... if one could be produced for word with the keyboard
shortcuts .. for those that feel comfortable with that .... it would be
good.

I'd also give them a 'real' project to do .... I always learn much faster
when I know the info is going to be put to some use.

and finally tell them if you can do it so can they LOL ....
