Well, I imagine you have return characters within the word table cell. It may behave better if you do a find and replace on the table while it's still in word and change all the returns for line breaks. From the replace dialog in word, hit the special characters button to enable this kind of replacing. I ran into this problem: when I paste the table into Excel, each line is pasted as a separate row, instead of each cell pasting into a cell. So the first cell in my Word table, which has 4 lines, becomes 4 separate rows when I paste into Excel. What'm I do wrong? >>> ray@xxxxxxxxx 10/17/03 12:51PM >>> I can help with this one, but you have to put the table in Excel first (that's very easy, just copy the whole table to the clipboard, open Excel, right click in cell A1 and choose 'Paste' from the shortcut menu. Now go to the articles page on my website: http://www.grbps.com/articles and choose the fourth one down ("Excel Formula Development") which covers exactly what you need to do and covers all the complications of mixed middle names, initials, etc. Ray _____________ This email is from Ray Blake, Head of Software Design, GR Business Process Solutions.
