First, to convert them to numbers, do this...

In an empty cell, type a 1
Copy the 1
Highlight all the cells with the dates in them
Go to Edit>Paste Special and put a tick where it says "Multiply" Click OK

That will turn all the dates into the correct serial numbers.

Then, while the cells are still highlighted, go to Format>Cells Click on the
Number Tab Choose Date in the left column, then choose the date format you
want on the right. 
Click OK.

I have a spreadsheet with dates that were entered as text (starting with an
apostrophe). The data was exported from Outlook to Excel.  I need to convert
the text to dates.  Please keep in mind that I do not know any Visual Basic.
