Nope...just did that and the styles stayed the same as when I made them.

Are you applying two different styles in one text box or using different
text boxes for each? I did it in two different text boxes and maybe that's
the difference? Try it that way and see if the styles stay the same. I have
a feeling that it's not cuz you are basing one style on the other, but that
you are putting two different styles in one text box...maybe?

I don't have time now to check that out cuz I gotta get to bed....but when I
did it in two different text boxes, the styles remained as I made them, even
after saving, closing, and reopening.

=================
Ok James...I just tested it....I made a style called James that had 8
pts
after the paragraph...then I made a new style named James Less, based on
James, that had 0 pts after the paragraph and it worked fine.

Am I misunderstanding you? Is this what you are saying you can't do?
What
do you mean when you say it's not possible? Do you get an error message
or
something?
==================

Oh yeah.

I left one part out.

Save the document.

Then open it again.

The second style goes back to being the same pts after paragraph as the
first style.

James
