Huh!?!?! When you use the /a switch that is SUPPOSED to stop all addins. But I do know that I've found the occasional renegade app. Example, as much as I love SnagIt...when the first incarnations of the new version came out, there was a bug that caused SnagIt to hang on to the system files for a particular image (the last one used). It was freaking me out cos' I'd snap/view a pic with SnagIt and then go into WinExplorer to maybe delete, move or rename the file, but I would get a warning that I couldn't do that cos' someone else was using it! I FINALLY discovered that if I crashed SnagIt (via Task Mgr) that the image would be freed up...even though it was closed, it still had tentacles attached to the image that assumed it was still in use! Same goes, as most of you know, if the TEMP folder has crashed versions of Normal.*...you'll get error msgs saying that you can't modify it cos' someone else is using it, or it is in use. Have you cleared your temp folder to ensure no ~*.tmp versions of normal are locked up? Dian D. I have done that. There must be something else hijacking it. Not normal.dot or dotm. It feels like there is an invisible add-in or global template.
