FYI.

I have a similar problem for years with 2002.  If I give the computer
sufficient time after it appears that Outlook closes (an additional =
30-60
seconds) then I don't have the problem.  If I shutdown the computer =
before
that additional time I always get that error.  While the process appears =
to
have ended it hasn't.

I haven't had that problem and I've been running Outlook 2007 for over a
month now ... do you have any add-ins running in Outlook or anything =
else
that might not be shutting down when you close Outlook?  After you close
Outlook, hit ctrl+alt+del and see if it's still running, either on the
Applications or the Processes tab.

Every time I open Outlook it gives me a message that it failed to close
properly and will check the data file for problems. I make sure to exit =

program properly before shutting down my computer, but get this message
every time. Has anyone else had this problem? How can I keep this from
happening. I'm worried about corruption in my PST files.
