And I think you should look into archiving when you get back on your
feet. Currently, I save my active Outlook.pst in a custom location that
makes it easier for me to find and back up. I also have Archive 2006
(stuff archived before 2007) and Archive 2007 (stuff I'll archive this
year).

If you autoarchive so the content of your Outlook folders is moved to
the Archive PST, the current PST never gets too big. I split my Archive
into years this year because it was getting unwieldy.

You can have several PSTs open at once, so you can easily look into
previous years' material.
