Robert:

I opened my 2000 PST in 2003, after a few problems and crashes.

The trouble was that Outlook 2003 needed its mailbox-designated PST to
be a 2003-format PST. So I had to start with a dummy, empty 2003 PST,
open my 2000 PST after Outlook was up and running, then copy the
contents from the one to the other. Not really a huge effort, but a
nuisance.

Everything seems fine now, though.
