OK, you did a clean install, updated everything, re-installed programs, =
restored her data. Sounds like you did everything right. I think my =
diagnosis in the last line of the previous message was correct.

The built-in recovery is on a hard drive partition. Invoke it, and the =
recovery program formats the hard drive, replaces the Windows and driver =
files, and replaces the program files for the programs that came with =
the computer. In other words, you restore the computer to the way it was =
when it was new. So the drivers are all correct. I then updated =
everything, reinstalled any additional programs she had, and restored =
her data.

The only thing useful I got from her is that the Word ruler doesn't =
stretch across thje entire screen. But note that I said this affected =
all Office programs on the computer.

I've asked her to bring the computer back in, but she didn't want to.
