Peter, I would go for at end of disk. I don't think you would notice the incremental speed decrease. I wondering which of the two options would be a better choice, files last (at end of disk, after everything) or files at end (after all files, but before freespace). It seems to me that files at end would prevent fragmentation, but would suffer from being at a slower part of the disk. Files last would run a bit faster but subject to some fragmentation. Though my assumptions may be off. .......Peter > > Peter, > > Good idea and it should help. > > Hal Cardona > PC Sleuth - http://www.pcsleuth.com > Owner WinXPHelp Group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WinXPHelp > Author - ABComputers http://personal-computer-tutor.com/ABC.htm > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Peter Strisik > Sent: Wednesday, September 18, 2002 11:08 AM > To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [mso] Defragging and outlook.pst > > > > Norton speeddisk 2003 lists files in the order of greatest > fragmentation when you do an "analyze".
