Indeed, this is marvelous.  I don't use the vo commands list nearly enough. 
I keep forgetting how contextually sensative it is.

Hi William,

I just wanted to thank you very much for giving me the solution to sorting
those mail columns.  It works like a charm.  I just interacted with
messages, then found the necessary date field then interacted with that date
field then did a vo+shift+\ (VO+Shift+BackSlash).  It was so simple really!
I really should have thought of that!  Ah well.  Again mate, thanks a bunch.
Now I can really get to like Apple mail smile.

sorry, I forgot to give the solution :(

first , I interact with the column with vo-down
Then I go to the column of the date with vo-right-arrow , press vo-h 2times
and I select sort column
I see the key but I don't know where to find it on the keyboard.
