Yes. That did work. Thanks for the help. What it turned out to be, was that I had a library on my windows machine running Itunes. I was under the impression that I could rate tracks from my mac which were on that remotely shared library, but apparently that is not the case. Now that I have started adding to my library locally, it seems to rate and work quite well. I do however have a real quick question though regarding adding things to the library that kind of is confusing me. When I hit command+o to add to library, I hear itunes busy, Itunes is no longer busy, busy, etc. Then it just kind a sits there and hangs. It does not give me an option to add files/ folders. the only way to get out of that is to force quit. I don't get that. It can't possibly be, that it's taking that long if it's synking my music folder, as God that folder can't have more than maybe 30 at the absolutely most, and that is pushing it, tracks in it. It's probably not even got that much. Sadly enough this system only has a 22gb drive in it. So, I am thus using my jukebox external drive for all my music. I can't figure out though how to navigate in the advanced/general page options and set itunes to monitor my jukebox volume/ftp/music directory and all sub direc†ories inste4ad of my home folder/music/itunes/itunes music. The way I have gotten around this lock up is really darn stupid, but, hey, it works. What I do is to go in the finder with itunes not even running. I then basicly navigate to the jukebox volume then the path of my music. Guys there is no way I cou8ld copy all this to my drive locally so don't even make that suggestion. I have over 130 gigs of music, and that would be on the low end. File compression is good, but not that good. LOL! Anyway, so, I havigate to the song/album that I wish to add. I have to go all the way deep to the actual songs as this way will not do sub folders. I then do command+A to select all. Then command+o, to open. This loads Itunes since it is the default player for my mp3's. Once that happens it also not only starts playing, but it adds them to my library. Then in preferences I went to the general button, then unchecked the box telling ITunes to copy to my ITunes music folder when I add songs to my library. Granted, that may again, a been real stupid, I mean R'r'r'r'real! stupid, but o well. My only question though is, by me doing this, is it not nly adding to th library, but, is it also creating playlists. I say this as when I interac† with the sources list, if I vo down, I see playlists 8 expanded lvel1. I dono what that's all about, as the few smart play lists that come with itunes like 90's music etc. are there, but, I don't see anything else. So, yeah, I'm a lit†le confused. If I just highlight that playlists 8, then go to the songs list, I do see songs there but they're not all stuff I have played yet, and they're not really in any kind of logical order either. Do ya have any clue on that?

Hey Chris, regardless of what the keystroke's title is, did it work for you?…

Did it bring up a dialogue for you, and were you able to access the ratings from it?…

Incidentally, Command I is the alias for the 'Get Info' option in the ctrl click menu, in this case, for songs in ITunes, so you can also access this by ctrl clicking the song and arrowing down to the 'Get Info' option and pressing return.

  HTH and have a lovely day!…

Do a command I on the song and you'll find the ratings setting in one of the tabs.

Have a lovely holiday!…

chris;
addressing your first question, i have no clue. I have seen this issue and figured it is just how the mac works Addressing your second question hilight the song in the songs list, vo+shift+m then arrow down to rating and hit return on the rating you want to give this song. These ratings will then show up in the rating collom.

Firstly, why is it that if I'm in the finder, and interact with the browser and am in collumn view, I can hit command c on a folder/file to copy it, but I cannot go to the edit menu and cut it? I have a few files I don't wanna copy around, I physically need to move 'em somewhere else. Being the nature of these files, it's somewhat urgent. So, before even answer my next question, let's address this.

ok, now for my funner question:

How with voice over do you rate songs in ITunes.

I highlighted the song in the song list, and then vo+shift +spaced but that menu had nothing.

In the file menu, I do see my rating, but all none through five stars are dimmed.

I have a track that now says 0 stars. I wanna rate it five stars as I l'l'l'l'l'l'luvv! this track!
