Frustrating indeed, going back as far as you could in the Mail app was what I
meant. I think I’m thinking back to a few versions ago when there was an option
for in boxes in the bottom row of the Mail app, might be misremembering but
it’s not there now regardless.
Just to accelerate the pondering, is it showing up in the accounts list under
Paswords and Accounts in settings? I assume that’s where you went and found
that it’s already enabled for mail. Have you tried signing out of your ICloud
account if it is indeed there? Maybe signing out and signing back in would kick
something into place.

Mailboxes back button at the very top…I just checked mine and wow I have a
crap ton of mailboxes I forgot about. You can also see if you can access it

be solved. You could try disabling it and re-enabling it from your accounts
setting page.
