To be quite honest, I find the whole Apple ID section of Settings to be quite
hard to grasp. It would seem to indicate that selecting one or the other
mailbox, or my phone number, will change the way you receive all mail and
messages and communications. For some reason, the setting I needed was lumped
in with storage and other apps that use iCloud storage, like Music, News, and
other things that were totally unrelated to Mail. I wish they’d redesign this
section; I’m usually pretty good with IOS but this I find very confusing.

Try checking your iCloud settings. Double tap on your name at the top of
the settings screen, then double tap on, iCloud. Make sure Mail is checked
as one of the services using iCloud.

but not showing up that would tell you it needs to be enabled. There is a
Mailboxes back button at the very top…I just checked mine and wow I have
a crap ton of mailboxes I forgot about. You can also see if you can

mystery needs to be solved. You could try disabling it and re-enabling it
from your accounts setting page.
