You can get just an iPad wireless and probably directly from Apple or Best
buy

Hi
Can you buy an unlocked iPad if you don't want to rely on AT and T or
Verizon for data plan?  Just curious.  I will most likely get an iPad and
small braille display when my BrailleNote PK dies.  I haven't upgraded the
software on it for a few years now anyway.

I like my iPhone but sometimes need to write documents and think the iPad
would be a better replacement for my notetaker than an iPod Touch even
though it is a bigger device.
