For those active members of the group it has been suggested that we should
head to Ladybower next Thursday. Unfortunately the Ladybower Inn still
seems to be closed. However if you park in the free parking on the right
hand side of the road just before you reach Fairholmes Centre on the
Ladybower Road for a 10 am departure on Thursday we could call at the
Centre for an outdoor coffee on our return. If wet we'd have to head back
to the Yorkshire Bridge (the Anglers Rest in Bamford is not open on
Thursdays).
For the walk itself I would suggest we cross the river and head up the
eastern side of Derwent Reservoir as far as Abbey Tip Plantation (yes,
really) which is near the head of Derwent Reservoir), then head into the
hills up Abbey BAnk, past Bamford House and onto the plateau. Eventually
we drop down past Lane Head and Derwent to the lane on the eastern side of
Ladybower and back to the Visitor Centre where drinks can be obtained.
