That Huey Long's mother was called "Caledonia." That, according to a
newspaper headline, "College 'Change Agents' think big." That Aaron
Chwatt changed his name to "Red Buttons." That my wife and daughter
scored four pairs of shoes for twenty eight bucks. That Marie Van
Blaricom was the youngest of Nellie Nutter's eight children. (Marie
eventually married Wally "Fuzzy" Leistiko, and there was an earlier
husband, so her obit is headlined, "Marie P. Van
Blaricom-Salvey-Leistiko"). That Arnold Edward Nodurft tended the
locks at Willammette Falls for forty years. That a novel can be
rejected by a New York agent for being "too whimsical."
Who knew?
