Eric: [The] "why can't we all get along?" strategy ....has
never, ever, not once, worked without military strength
behind it, either in the form of convincing deterrence or in
the aftermath of a decisive defeat of the enemy.
Andreas: Let's see... peace has never worked? There's no
peace between Florida and Georgia? No peace between Oregon
and Washington state?
Eric: There was a decisive defeat of the southern states in
something called the Civil War. That bloody Civil War ended
in decisive defeat of the South, which meant that the
federal system has been unchallenged since. You prove my
point with that example.
Andreas: I'm saying your fears are racist. For example, you
worry about the threat only with regards to the USA. What
about a Korean missile against Japan? India? China? Didn't
even cross your mind, did it?
Eric: Probably more often than it crossed yours. In fact,
Andreas, your assumption that those who disagree with you
are "racist" is itself a form of mean-spirited stereotyping
and prejudice. I subscribe to the Global Security Newswire
[http://www.nti.org] to keep informed about those
possibilities. Do you?
