By the same token anyone born in Germany in the same year as me would not be of my generation - this in a way is a stretch, though I can see that 'generation' is sometimes used to mean 'milieu' as you seem to use it. However, for the sake of clarity, when generation is used to denote 'milieu' it is usually qualified i.e. not "his generation" but "his generation at Oxford". If limited to the "Playgroup", your comments may be right - but, as indicated, things had moved on by the time of my generation. Popper was born in 1904 or 1902. Definitely an even year not an odd one.
