[lit-ideas] Grice on Nihilism

Grice wrote "Vacuous Name" as a tribute to Quine (of all people! and on
all topics!). Grice argues for the sense (if not sensibility) of using stuff
like "Marmaduke Bloggs" to talk about someone who doesn't really exist (he
who climbed Mt Everest on hands and knees).

Similarly, he (Grice) would have a word or two about nothing.

(Formulate Nihilism using Grice's predicate calculus alla
Whitehead/Russell)

Cheers,

Speranza
