You want science to substitute for superstition in the year 2006? God is like a mechanical bunny on a racetrack (the Jewish guy); the Messiah will return from a well (Islam); God wants the perfect heifer, and when they get one, it's all over (the Christian, with the all important rabbinical assistance). The New Middle Ages? How about the New Stone Ages? Even W.B. Yeats. Did he believe that stuff? Stupid question. Everybody believes that stuff. Anything that happens, tsunamis, bird flu, are all acts of God in the year 2006. Marlena is still conspicuous by her absence. She once said the Bible prophecied the end of times will come from China. Maybe she meant pollution. 30% of the pollution in California is from China. 20% of the mercury in the Great Lakes is from China. There's literally no blue sky left in China. They're in love with cars. Something like 23,000 miles of beautiful interstate have been built in China since 2000; the U.S. has a total of about just under 50,000 miles. They're not worried about end of times. They're having too much fun driving, the middle class is anyway, which numbers about 250 million compared to our 300 million. The rest are still very much dirt poor peasants, but they're still pouring into the cities. In case anybody started to get cheered up, there are something like 300,000 deaths directly related to pollution per year in China. It's funny how ethanol is sweeping the U.S. (supposedly), but to create ethanol they have to use coal (and oil based fertilizer for the corn, courtesy of ADM). Coal is exactly what's polluting the air so much in China. Can't win. That mechanical bunny, just can't keep up with him. ----- Original Message ----- From: To: lit-ideas@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: 7/23/2006 6:31:43 AM Subject: [lit-ideas] Re: End of Times These people should a) look into Quantum Physics and b) learn how to live in the Now.
