One more thing: The first stanzas are KIND of coherent and actually rhyme in places. It's very interesting how Al's version gets increasingly more incoherent and ridiculous as it goes along. I suppose the only people who would hold out til the end were the ones who were genuinely interested in his palindromic feats -- really the only basis of the song. I also a agree that it's a backhanded compliment of Dylan, but anyone who has ever seen Dylan live can attest that he could be singing a very well-known song for a good minute before you even recognize it. Unless you read the lyrics (like Mike apparently likes to do), Dylan verges on gibberish quite often, especially live. Part of what makes his "subterranean homesick blues" video so good is that he's LITERALLY throwing away the words. p ------------------------------------------------------------------ To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html
