Hi Samuel,

Thanks for the advice. The package wasn't installed, and installing it at
least made a difference. I now get the following message at the end of the
output from autogen:

liblouisutdml/Makefile.am:61: warning: source file
'../java/Jliblouisutdml.c' is in a subdirectory,
liblouisutdml/Makefile.am:61: but option 'subdir-objects' is disabled

output
automake: object file(s) will be placed in the top-level directory.

automake: of the corresponding sources.
automake: You are advised to start using 'subdir-objects' option throughout
your
automake: project, to avoid future incompatibilities.

Am my missing more packages?

Both liblouis and libxml should be installed on my system.

Any good ideas?

Make sure to have the pkg-config package installed before running
./autogen
