Building season for some, re-building season for others (me). I spent some
time working on a couple of planes today, accomplished a little, not a lot.

With Payday Friday came the first chance to order some Micro R/C gear for
the upcoming SE-5. I really haven't felt comforatable putting anything
together until I know how everything will fit and exactly what parts of the
kit will have to be modified (butchered) to accommodate it all.
Getting the ailerons to work right in such a thin wing is going to be fun,
and I've already started imagining an intricate and probably impossible mad
scientist set of bellcranks and pulleys to to match the pull-pull cables
I'm planning to work the tail surfaces. I'm certain this would be heavier
than a good old fasioned flex-tube setup, but I'm sort of Rube Goldberg
about these things.
But so far, of course, there's been a lot of dreaming and basically no work
done. Keeping track of the political races in Vilonia and trying to tell the
county about them has been consuming all my time lately, leaving me with
little time or energy even for visualization and contemplation about the
plane.
But I guess you folks refer to the winter months as "building season," so
I'll hopefully have something ready to tentatively lift its little wheels
off the ground by spring.

Kind of late notice, but does anybody want to get together for some flying this evening about 3:30 or 4pm at Wooster. If I don't hear from anybody by 3pm, and you decide at the last minute to fly, you will probably either find me at the Westside Elementary (on the right just before you get to the High School, and if there are people there, I will go to plan C and be at the Alltel building just back up the road near the bridge you cross just after getting off of Hwy 65 and crossing that bridge past Fred's. I have been wanting to try that spot out anyway since I have permission to fly there. It is a little small for some planes, but nothing like what most of us fly. So Wooster first choice if ANYBODY replies in the affirmative to the 3:30pm site, if not see you at one of the alternatives maybe. Also you can call me on my cell phone to confirm at 501.336.5971.
