With Payday Friday came the first chance to order some Micro R/C gear for the
upcoming SE-5. I really haven't felt comforatable putting anything together
until I know how everything will fit and exactly what parts of the kit will
have to be modified (butchered) to accommodate it all.
Getting the ailerons to work right in such a thin wing is going to be fun, and
I've already started imagining an intricate and probably impossible mad
scientist set of bellcranks and pulleys to to match the pull-pull cables I'm
planning to work the tail surfaces. I'm certain this would be heavier than a
good old fasioned flex-tube setup, but I'm sort of Rube Goldberg about these
things.
But so far, of course, there's been a lot of dreaming and basically no work
done. Keeping track of the political races in Vilonia and trying to tell the
county about them has been consuming all my time lately, leaving me with little
time or energy even for visualization and contemplation about the plane.
But I guess you folks refer to the winter months as "building season," so I'll
hopefully have something ready to tentatively lift its little wheels off the
ground by spring.
