Hi Guys, I ended up flying at LAFFS. I got some good flights late, as the wind dropped at that time (both Saturday and Sunday). I flew Ross's new Sammy 3D and got it trimmed. It is ready for Ross and I think he will like it. It was very stable and has the ability for alot of Ross type moves. The Welgard motor turned out well too ($21.95). I will need to set it up for more power by changing to a high discharge battery when Ross is ready for a power boost. Knowing him that will not be long. I flew a new plane I have been working on for a while. It is a Seagull Edge 540 with an OS 91 two stroke. As always with first flights, I was nervious (part of the fun). I managed to get it trimmed out and a good landing. The plane was very stable and would slow down for a not too hot landing. I was impressed for its first flight. I have repaired Ross's Eagle, two servos locked up on it. I am building a Slinger with a brushless motor now. My Wild Cat is repaired as well so it is ready to go. So Ross and I will be ready for our next Saturday or Sunday afternoon at Wooster International. Lets watch the weather and see when we can fly again. Have fun, John G ------- Original Message ------- From : Bill Beavers[mailto:bbeavers57@xxxxxxxxx] Sent : 10/29/2006 9:34:20 PM To : lektrik_flyers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc : Subject : RE: [lektrik_flyers] Re: flying Sunday 10-29 Well, at least I am glad SOME of you are getting your flying machines in order if you won't come and fly!!! ;-) Actually it was kind of a bomb today as the wind was more gusty than I had wanted to admit, so I only got a little flying in with the Stryker Jet and the rest of the lightweight stuff will have to wait until a much calmer day. ;-) Maybe the coming weekend will give us a good chance to fly but with the time change, we will either have to fly in the AM or start much earlier in the afternoon around 1 or 2pm to really get some light to work with, so we will have to be watching for the good days on the lektrik stuff! I should have a nice surprise to try out next time we have good conditions. I think this is one that Greg Clayton will especially like. I won't say more so as not to ruin it. I just hope it flies well! ;-) Sounds like David will have some stuff reaady soon, and Joe, well it sounds like Joe's plane may be run by the Umpalumpas from Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory! ;-) Just kidding Joe, but I do hope you don't run into to much difficulty getting the linkages you want on that plane. I really can't wait to see it for real, flight or not flight. I just think it is going to look cool. Until the next good air.... I spent some time working on a couple of planes today, accomplished a little, not a lot. I really haven't felt comforatable putting anything together until I know how everything will fit and exactly what parts of the kit will have to be modified (butchered) to accommodate it all. Getting the ailerons to work right in such a thin wing is going to be fun, and I've already started imagining an intricate and probably impossible mad scientist set of bellcranks and pulleys to to match the pull-pull cables I'm planning to work the tail surfaces. I'm certain this would be heavier than a good old fasioned flex-tube setup, but I'm sort of Rube Goldberg about these things. But so far, of course, there's been a lot of dreaming and basically no work done. Keeping track of the political races in Vilonia and trying to tell the county about them has been consuming all my time lately, leaving me with little time or energy even for visualization and contemplation about the plane. But I guess you folks refer to the winter months as "building season," so I'll hopefully have something ready to tentatively lift its little wheels off the ground by spring. > ---------- > From: lektrik_flyers-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Bill Beavers > Reply To: lektrik_flyers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Sent: Sunday, October 29, 2006 3:02 PM > To: lektrik_flyers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [lektrik_flyers] Re: flying Sunday 10-29 > > Ok, didn't get any feedback from anybody so I am heading to Westside Elem > to fly for a while or to the Alltel Office whichever is not crowded! ;-) > Later. > > > Bill Beavers > Lektrik_Flyer > http://users.tcworks.net/~bbeavers/ > Have others friends join lektrik_flyers listserv by looking it up at > //freelists.org or email me their email address and I'll add it for > them. > > > > ----- Original Message ---- > From: Bill Beavers <bbeavers57@xxxxxxxxx> > To: Lekrik Flyers List <lektrik_flyers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Sunday, October 29, 2006 11:46:37 AM > Subject: [lektrik_flyers] flying Sunday 10-29 > > > Kind of late notice, but does anybody want to get together for some flying > this evening about 3:30 or 4pm at Wooster.
