And that's exactly what I was trying to avoid; thank you for leading
the way.

When I get the Binder connector I'll let you know off line. But other
inquiring minds may want to know what to do.

The Binder catalog is interesting in its own right if you're a
connector or catalog fan (read freak) and it tells you something
about Leica engineering's parts selection criteria

As you noted, the part in question is the last one on the page. Why
that one? It has the most contacts (8) and more than ample voltage
and current capacity (125v & 1 amp) for camera work and provides the
greatest growth path for future unknown (so far) circuit needs in the
same connector shell size. Those good old boys in Solms seem to be
looking ahead, for what, who knows, but they are making preparations
today for tomorrow. That's a good sign.

I'll add your Manfrotto nominations to my list with the pair Doug
Herr recommended and go shopping.

I do like picture of Ted's Gitzo monopod in action because it frees
up both arms and hands to open the ice chest and get at the Labatt's
Blue or the chardonnay or possibly lunch.

All the best,

Bill
