Thanks so much for the nice comments. If I had one wish it would be that there was a bit more fall color in the trees, but the color of the grasses and the other ground plants was nice, especially on the walk around the loop trail when it was raining the first afternoon. The ranch is still on the road, and from the cars and people I would say it is doing fine. Did not know the name or if the name is the same as you said, but at least some business is there and is busy. When we left Aspen, we headed south over Independence Pass. That is 12K feet plus. The highest I have ever been with my feet on the ground. It was cool and windy with a bit of fresh snow along the road. We "hiked" out to the view point and it was a huff and puff even though it was not much of a hill. And we are in pretty good shape for our ages. I'll post a shot or two from there, but not that great. You definitely lucked out. I've only seen a few which were any better and they are from locals with Hassy and Linhof who could hop in the car when the light was perfect. These are better than 99.99% of what's out there. Haven't been in years but hope T-Lazy-7 Ranch on that road is still doing fine. Nothing else out there on that road which goes nowhere but a great view in all seasons. All the other roads lead to 12,000' - 13,000' passes but you need a very serious 4x4 to get past 10,000'. Pity Aspen has gotten so expensive; all the locals I know had to move to Basalt or Carbondale and commute in. _____ From: Aram Langhans <leica_r8@xxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:leica_r8@xxxxxxxxxxx> > To: lug <lug@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:lug@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> >; Leica Reflex <LeicaReflex@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:LeicaReflex@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Wednesday, October 1, 2014 11:56 PM Subject: [LRflex] Maroon Bells after the storm Some shots from the morning after a rainy day in Aspen. We camped half way up to the top, and then got up early for some shot. We lucked out as the storm was clearing and there were a few clouds and some fresh snow in the upper elevations. Not a lot of fall color when we were there, but a nice place. Actually, this first shot is from the day before when the peaks were hidden in the rain clouds. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f14/d/Maroon+Bells-1908.jpg.html Next day shots. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f14/d/Maroon+Bells-2059.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f14/d/Maroon+Bells-1963.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f14/d/Maroon+Bells-1995-Edit.jpg.html First and last taken with Leica 35-70 f/4.
