All: For some time, I've been trying to get a decent shot of a "Common Loon". However, they usually stay far enough from shore that even with big glass, they're hard to capture. Yesterday, a friend was visiting from Alberta, and we went fishing, on Face Lake. Well, actually he went fishing ... I tagged along with a camera. Towards dusk, a Loon finally started to swim near us. The light was fading, and he was in the shadows, so the shot lacks a "brilliance" that I'd like to see. OTOH, his diving for dinner gave his head a decoration not always seen and the colouration is marvelous. So, it's not the "perfect shot", but it's the best I've been able to muster, so far. And, not bad for a 200mm + 2x, hand held from a 14" aluminum boat! See: http://www3.telus.net/~telyt/ and then click on "Featured Photo", on the left. Teckie stuff: LeiCanon 30D w/80~200/f4 Vario + 2x converter ... hand held from a 14' (4.25 meter) aluminum boat. ISO 800 and underexposed by 1 stop. Comments, criticisms appreciated, as always. Thanks for looking. :-) --- David Young, Logan Lake, CANADA Wildlife Photographs: http://www.telyt.com/ Personal Web-pages: http://www3.telus.net/~telyt Stock Photography at: http://tinyurl.com/2amll4 ------ Unsubscribe or change to/from Digest Mode at: http://www3.telus.net/~telyt/lrflex.htm Archives are at: //www.freelists.org/archives/leicareflex/
