Charles,
Sorry, I left off the first part of the question.
With a 50mm lens, I would be more prone to getting one with an aspherical
element, than an Apochromatic element, because the APO is for color correction,
in which the primary light component colors do not focus at precisely the same
plane. This is a problem in longer, (over 135mm) lenses, and not "Standard"
lenses. I'm not sure if wide angles, or superwides are so affected. Maybe some
of our other members can help here.
