==> A 3-layer combi in multi mode is actually using 3 tracks, but they are
all set to sound on the first track. On the last page of any multi sound
(00G) you will find the assignment of which track the sound should play on.
In default, the sound for track 1 plays on track 1, etc. But in multi mode,
if you look at page 00G for sounds 2,3,4, etc., you'll find they are
assigned to Track 1.

So, the easiest thing to do is use Cakewalk's Sysex View and download a
combi setup from the Korg to a sysex bank. Once it's in, make sure it's
assigned to the port for the Korg, in case you use more than one instrument.
Then in the future whenever you hit the Send button, the Korg will set up
that combi for you. In Cakewalk, you just record on Track 1, and it will
record on all the other tracks that the Korg has assigned for Track 1 for
that combi.

Warning: If the combi is made of 3 sounds, don't record on Cakewalk tracks 2
or 3, because the Korg needs those for the combi, as well as Track 1 where
you record. No, you don't have to arm the other tracks when you record the
combi; just leave them blank.

By the way, if you download the combis you like onto one Sysex view, you can
save that Cakewalk project as template (.tpl) for all your future needs.
While you're at it, put your favorite Effects on some sysex banks, since
they are separate from the combis and have to be loaded separately each
time. And put some sysex messages on your page, too, such as the ones for
setting the Korg to multi mode. With a template like that, you'll save a lot
of time in the future. --NR
