thank you roy, it was several experienced Jaws users on a Uk jaws list that
said they wouldnot download any update
frome fs without doing a repair first. I did not do that but had to have
engineers in to fix my windows 7 pc and as for xp laptop the whole lot
reformated,so I too shall be very wary in future of any jaws updates buyer

no it is not necessary to run a repair first just do a check for updates. if
the update fails then just go get the full version from the freedom scientific
page and install it over what is already there. That will work no repair
necessary. Just a big download.

a friend sent me 3 emails today from a list he is a member of it is jaws
only, and they were all explaining that now before getting in any Jaws update
they run a repair first, surely we should not have to protect ourselves from
Jaws updates or enhancements! I have just had my laptop cleaned off and finally
registered all the software again and shall be very wary of the next update
